Real Urban Barbecue

If you like boba tea there’s a great place called Liquid Fusion, for Asian food my wife and I love Big Bowl, for breakfast Walker Bros or Strawberry Field Pancakes, for BBQ there’s Real Urban Barbecue.

Sadly, and as someone who does love the availability of BBQ places whenever I see my own family relatives in the South, I unfortunately have to agree that I wish more such places existed. Though this situation isn't as bad, as it used to be like 10-15 years ago when much fewer places existed. That said, I'd agree with the recommendations of Smoque and also BBQ Supply Company. If you're in the suburbs, I also do like Q BBQ, which has a couple locations(Oak Park, LaGrange, and a few other locations, wish they'd reopen their former one in Chicago). Real Urban Barbecue has a few locations too, including Highland Park. There are some scattered mom and pop barbecue places in the greater Chicago area too, such as Smokey's Southern BBQ on US 20, between Chesterton and Michigan City, IN.

Smoque, Q on diversey is well liked. Im partial to Real Urban Barbecue in Lincolnshire (theres multiple locations)

This is in the north suburbs, but Real Urban Barbecue has top notch pulled pork and brisket. There's one in Vernon Hills and one in Highland Park.

If we're strictly talking about BBQ in Chicago, I don't think anyone compares to Smoque. I hear a lot of praise for Rub, and perhaps I was there on an off day, but it wasn't even close. I've had the brisket at over 30 BBQ restaurants in the city and suburbs. Outside of Real Urban Barbecue (Highland Park and Vernon Hills) and Smokey Bears (which closed a few years ago), Smoque's brisket has no competition.

The hands-down best BBQ in the suburbs is only about 8 miles north of you in Highland Park, at a place called Real Urban Barbecue.
