The story
From the businessHecky’s Barbecue opened on October 13, 1983, at 1902 Green Bay Road in Evanston. Hecky, the founder, started the restaurant with $100 in the cash register. Over the years, the restaurant expanded from one storefront to four. Hecky's specializes in barbecued and Southern-style foods. In April 2023, Hecky’s won the ‘Reader’s Choice Award’ from the Chicago Tribune for best Chicago-style barbecue. The restaurant was also mentioned in one of Anthony Bourdain’s books.
