Seems like you spend a lot of time in Geneva lol. I’d suggest the mad batter for donuts. Smittys on the corner for a great sandwich and firewater bbq for bbq that doesn’t taste like it’s from Illinois

Fox Valley live music: Feb 1-4

Frustrated by a lack of a centralized source for local live music information, I've been putting together a list of every live music performance in the Tri-Cities area (Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles) of the western suburbs each weekend. Below you'll find the lineup for this weekend (Thurs, Feb 1 - Sunday, Feb 4) if interested! *\*Below are “listed” start/end times actual play times tend to vary. Firewater bbq- love their wings, rib tips, and brisket. They’re cheap too for how much they give you! Freedom brother’s pizzeria & ale house- what’s better than pizza and beer while classic rock’s playing??

Brookfield - Beach Avenue BBQ

Just saw this place driving by the other day. Is it any good, and if so, consistently good? Looked on Yelp, and seems decent, but with BBQ you can never really be sure. My go to around here is Smoque and sometimes Firewater in Elmhurst/Lombard. Interested to see how it compares to those places from people who have been there. Thanks in advance Redditors!

Norwood Park: I would go to Zia’s Social over Coaches or Trinity. Mystic Rogue is ok and that or Zia’s can definitely accommodate a larger party because they have decent sized bars. Edison Park: Firewater is fun and large, so it would be great for your group. Emerald Isle also could likely work but Edison Park Inn (EPI) is kind of a dump, so works if you’re looking for more of a look bar feel. I’d checkout Park Ridge too. Pennyville Station, Beer on the Wall, Mel’s BBQ, Harp & Fiddle, and then my personal favorite, Holt’s, are all right by the train.

It’s a struggle. Firewater BBQ in the suburbs is pretty good. Been to Geneva a few times and impressive brisket by Illinois standards. Green street is good too but I wasn’t wowed Nothing holds a candle to Texas BBQ imo.

Altitude trampoline park could help the kids burn some calories. Lombard itself is full of great neighborhood parks. Madison Meadow, Sunset Knoll, and Lombard Commons are great choices. Will surely find other kids playing on the toys with the good weather forecast. Nearby First Preserve parks with good hiking: Fullersburg Woods Churchill Woods Hidden Lake Morton Arboretum is great for kids that age but will cost an entry fee. My favorite restaurants in town: Egg House cafe for breakfast or brunch Jerusalem Cafe or Shawarma Express for Mediterranean food Los Camales for Mexican Brewster's for good grilled chicken Firewater BBQ Noodles Pho U for Vietnamese, Asian fusion, and smoothies

Tons of great breweries in St Charles / Geneva about 15 minutes away. Atlas (edit: Alter), Penrose, Polyana, Riverlands, all great. Want to fuck around outside? We have some amazing parks in the area too, Mt St Mary (cool art installations), Wheeler (with Frisbee & mini golf!), and Island Park. Bonus shoutout to Batavia Riverwalk which is a bit further away. West Dundee has a paintball park that is modeled after a Call of Duty map, that's pretty fun (but might suck alone). Attractions, Riverboat Casino in Elgin, Arcada theater in St Charles (Dire straits are playing there tonight!) Food? Bien Trucha (mexican), Buttermilk (breakfast - go early) and Firewater (BBQ) in Geneva, Riverside (pizza), Gia Mia (Italian), and Smittys (sandwiches - limited hours) in St Charles.

I like Firewater BBQ in Geneva. They’ve got a couple locations so there may be a closer one. I’m a big BBQ fan and they’re the most traditional I’ve had. Never tried their wings tho
