Carson’s Prime Steaks & Famous Barbecue Chicago (Streeterville)

Carsons Is my prime rib go to. Not a steakhouse but not quite old school either. Fantastic prime rib. I think it was $50 or $59 for a 16 oz and 2 sides so it’s a good package. Get there early though, they are known to sell out of their prime rib. Chicago Chop house is my 2nd spot. Def old school vibe. Prime Rib is weekends only i believe. Gramps should like the vibe here its like a Chicago time capsule in there.

So I would say get a hot dog from Gene a judges or honestly almost any burger joint and you'll be good. Italian Beef get it from Johnnie's extra hot peppers and order it dry(I know people will kill me for this, but let's be real its super wet when you order it dry still and I hate soggy bread falling apart). Also Al's is a great beef place. Pizza Lou's! Lou's! Lou's! If you want deep dish. Next time skip the sandwich from Rico's altogether. Lastly, why Carsons?! It is not 1995 anymore. There are SO many better options for that type of meal for your future trip. Glad you enjoyed Chicago though!

Nice but did you at least taste carsons ribs? please tell me you did. And were you warned not to order ketchup with the dog? lol.. Im from Chicago, but I've always put ketchup... Some people get grumpy

WPWR seems like the least likely because it is based out of Gary, IN. WCIU the U (Warner Brothers/The CW) and WFLD (Fox) haven't given me any results yet, and they sometimes have Carson's department store commercials just to muddy up the search. Havent lived in Chicago since the mid-90's. Still miss Portillo's dogs & that chocolate cake. Also, Demon Dogs, across from De Paul, Robinson's Ribs, the Patio (more ribs), Barney's (more ribs) & Carsons (still more ribs)! But I digress.

Speaking of Jagoffs... Who remembers the Thorndale Jagoffs? For a little bit of Chicago throwback history... So this was a big gang back in the 70s. These motherfuckers were CRAZY! They used to be called the Thorndale Jarvis Organization until a cop in 20 called them a bunch of jagoffs, and the pres said, yeah fuck it, that sounds about right, and they called themselves that from then on. So these guys were fucking nutso, and it all culminated in a shootout with the cops, in front of the old Carsons Ribs on Ridge (off Peterson) where one of the TJO guys had a assault rifle and decided it'd be a great idea to shoot a bunch of cops. Cross Rhodes at 913 Chicago is fantastic Greek food. Get the giant cut vinegar fries. Dave's Down to Earth Rock Shop is right around the corner on Main street. They have a wide variety of Native American artwork, rock carvings, fossils, and neat rocks. Don't miss the museum in the basement! Kafein is at 1621 Chicago. Everything is a little overpriced, but come on Monday for open mic night. You can mock college students and hipsters while drinking some decent coffee. The McGaw YMCA at 1000 Grove street is where Tina Fey worked when she first moved to Chicago. The reception desk and shitty vending machine room are exactly as they were 30 years ago.
